Aviation club of KPI
Since 2017, the charitable organization “St. Volodymyr Charitable Foundation” has been implementing the charitable project “KPI Aviation Circle” within the framework of its statutory activities.
As part of the project, the Foundation provides assistance to ensure the operation of an aviation club created on the basis of the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute's Mechanical Engineering Institute.
The main goal of the club is to provide students with a basic understanding of aircraft engineering, teach them how to perform structural calculations for radio-controlled models, and guide them in operating the models they have built.
- Developing an understanding of aerodynamics, flight theory, and the structure and operating principles of various aircraft;
- Performing necessary load calculations for aircraft and strength calculations for aircraft structural components;
- Gaining experience in designing and constructing aircraft using modern CAD software;
- Mastering and practicing the basic technological principles of model fabrication;
- developing skills in working with tools and equipment when processing various materials;
- conducting flight tests of manufactured aircraft to determine flight parameters and actual loads on aircraft structural components;
- encouraging club members to develop innovative aircraft designs;
- participating in academic and competitive model aircraft competitions
